200gsm uncoated kraft paperboard. Die-cut foam insert (1/4 inch EVA). Printed QR sticker on the inside lid. Total cost per unit: about $0.40.
V2 (planned)
Injection-molded TPU. Same form factor. Weatherproof. Tooling investment ~$40k. Triggered when we have validated demand.
Why we ship the cardboard version first
The cardboard caddy lets us learn the right form factor with real customers before we commit $40k. If it turns out customers want a different size, more slots, a magnetic latch, we find out before the mold gets cut.
